SUMMER THEATRE!

There are lots of shows on this summer to take the children to!

LOCAL OUTDOOR THEATRE

Greenwich Theatre Festival 21-29 June is amazing with lots of FREE outdoor shows for the family and for children. And it ends next weekend. Visit www.festival.org for more details.

Sixteen Feet Productions are presenting two shows this summer in Brockwell Park.

Twelfth Night is on in the park 3-14 July:

Matinees: Friday & Saturday: 4pm in the Rose Garden
Wednesdays – Sundays: 7.15pm
Matinees: Friday 5 & Thursday 11 July:  2.30pm
Matinees: Sunday 7 & Saturday 13 July: 4pm

Dulwich Park

Dulwich Players are putting on As You Like It in Dulwich art gallery gardens and Dulwich park on 29/6, 30/6 and 6/7 and 7/7. Tickets £7 adults and £5 children under 12.

Regent’s Park – A Winter's Tale
Shakespeare for children age 6 and up in Regent's Park. Tickets are £15 and would be a great introduction to Shakespeare for children in coming along to the SSF auditions.

Young Vic

Brilliant (ages 3-5) is booking at the Young Vic 3-13 July and is supposed to be really good. 

The Globe

Shakespeare’s Stories
14/8 and 21/9

The perfect introduction to Shakespeare for all those 9 plus. Two of Shakespeare’s darkest talks – King Lear and Macbeth – retold in all their drama by Debs Newbold at 11 am (tickets £15 for 1 adult and 1 child)
  
Muse of Fire
Muse of Fire is an exciting new promenade performance for families. Fuelled by fantastic stories, the strange characters you meet along your way hold vital clues to the mystery of the Globe fire. Tickets go on sale 15th July.
Suitable for ages: 5 to 11 and their parents or guardians.

Also be sure to visit the new Globe Playground to sign up for fun games, films and news designed just for children.

There are a few tickets left for Childsplay. These are workshops for children 8-11 based on a Shakespeare play. Adults must accompany children and see a matinee performance. Children are then guided in to see a bit of the show. Tickets £15. Macbeth August 17 and Midsummer Night's Dream at September 7. Book now! Tickets are £15.

Thursday 8 August to Friday 30 Aug,  Monday – Friday        
Tours run at 10.30 and 12.30 and last one hour.
A chance to go behind the scenes at the National  – sneak a peek at backstage areas, props and costumes.
Suitable for 8-12yrs. At least one adult must accompany no more than three children.
Tickets: Adults £8.50 (for each paying adult up to 3 children go free). 

The Polka Theatre in Wimbledon

Is showing Three Colours for children 2-4 over the holidays and also Charlie and Lola's Extremely Good Play up until 17th August. http://www.polkatheatre.com/whats-on. There is a FREE outdoor show called The Monkey and the Crocodile on 6th and 7th July at the small playground at the Polka which is recommended for KS1 children - very colourful and lots of circus skills!

The Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge

Winds down a bit for the summer but is showing Wee Dance, Wee Groove a fun interactive dancing show for kids - under 5 and separate shows 5-7. See www.unicorntheatre.com

SouthBank Centre

There is lots of children's theatre on over the summer at the Southbank Centre. Look at http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/ and remember to book early.

Greenwich Theatre

Fairfields Hall in Croydon

Has a few mainstream shows over summer like Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. It is also running week long West End type drama courses for children 6-16 over the summer holidays for £115 for the week. See www.fairfield.co.uk

Kids Week 2013

Is now open for booking at www.kidsweek.co.uk. One child goes free with an adult paying full price to loads of family West End shows. A lot of seats have already gone but you might be able to snap up some bargains!
